New VP for Student Engagement and Success Announced!
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Dr. Don Albrecht has been named vice president for Student Engagement and Success at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. Albrecht, vice president for Student Affairs at West Texas A&M University, will join the campus community in early to mid-July.
"I'm confident that Dr. Albrecht will help the Island University and our students reach our goals of retention and engagement," said University President Flavius Killebrew. "Dr. Albrecht has a long history of helping students achieve their goals and I know he will also excel in his responsibility to look out for the welfare of our growing student body."
Albrecht graduated from Texas A&M University in 1976 with a Bachelor of Business Administration. He earned his Master of Education degree from Texas A&M in 1977 and, in August 1989, was awarded his Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Administration, also from Texas A&M University.
"It is a tremendous honor to be named the vice president for Student Engagement and Success and I am excited for this new opportunity to help students achieve their educational goals. My wife and I look forward to arriving on the island and joining the campus community," said Dr. Albrecht.
From September 1977 to August 1985, Albrecht served Student Activities at Texas A&M University, first as assistant director, then as associate director. He was named director of Student Activities at Baylor University in 1985 and, in 1987, became assistant dean for Student Activities. He joined the administration at West Texas A&M University in 1992 as associate dean of Student Services. In 1993, he was named vice president for Student Affairs.
